Travel Toiletries Checklist for a 7-Day Trip

A good one-week toiletry kit covers your normal routine without bringing the entire bathroom. Start with daily essentials, then add only what the trip actually changes.

Quick Answer

Pack dental care, the hair and body products you use, skincare, deodorant and any personal essentials. Add quantities based on expected use, check what your accommodation provides and separate liquids from dry items. Your destination and routine determine the extras.

Your core toiletries checklist

Use this as an editable checklist. Cross out what you do not use and add the personal items your routine requires.

Category Items to consider Packing decision
Dental care Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss Protect the brush head; account for toothpaste in your liquids setup
Hair care Shampoo, conditioner, comb or brush Count expected washes and measure each product separately
Body care Body wash or soap, deodorant Check the product form and what your accommodation supplies
Face care Cleanser, moisturiser and familiar daily products Bring your normal essentials rather than extra treatments
Sun care Sunscreen and other protection you normally use Plan enough for the trip; do not assume a miniature covers a week
Personal care Period products, shaving items, contact-lens supplies if used Check individual item rules and storage instructions

Medication and medical supplies deserve their own packing check. Keep them accessible and follow their storage and travel requirements.

Separate the liquids before you choose a bag

Set aside liquid shampoo, conditioner, cleanser, body wash, creams, gels and toothpaste. Leave room for the less obvious items in your routine, such as liquid makeup or contact-lens solution.

Rules depend on product form. A solid alternative and a liquid version may be treated differently. Consult the TSA item directory for US screening and the carry-on liquids guide for route planning.

Keep dry items in their own part of the kit. A comb and toothbrush do not need to compete with your bottles for space in the liquids bag.

Plan a week's use instead of guessing

For each liquid, write down how often you expect to use it and approximately how much you need each time. Add a realistic allowance for an extra use or delay.

  • Shampoo: planned washes, including both applications if you double-shampoo.
  • Conditioner: its own amount per wash, which may differ from shampoo.
  • Cleanser: your normal morning and evening routine, if applicable.
  • Body wash: expected showers, unless you plan to use supplied soap.

Our shampoo quantity guide includes worked examples. Do not apply one product's estimate to every product in the bag.

One possible four-product setup

Shampoo + conditioner + body wash + cleanser

These are four possible uses for CarryPeace's separate 30 ml bottles. Swap a product for one you use more often, or use two chambers for the same product if its quantity requires it.

Check the numbers before choosing this setup. If you need 50 ml of conditioner, one 30 ml chamber will not cover it. A separate larger container or a planned refill may make more sense.

Keep products with specific packaging requirements in their original containers. A coordinated kit should make your routine easier, not change how a product needs to be stored.

Add the extras your trip calls for

A beach holiday, work trip and hiking break do not need identical kits. Think about laundry access, shared bathrooms, outdoor time, hair styling and what you can reliably buy nearby.

If you will move between several places, choose labels you can read quickly and a kit you can check at a glance before leaving the bathroom. If you are staying in one hotel, confirm the supplied amenities and remove unnecessary duplicates.

FAQ and final packing check

Should every liquid bottle be full?

No. Carry the amount you need, using a permitted container and following its filling instructions.

What if the liquids bag will not close?

Remove duplicates, choose smaller suitable containers or plan a destination purchase. Do not force the zip over an overfilled kit.

What should I check before leaving?

  • All daily essentials are included.
  • Quantities cover planned use.
  • Containers are labelled, closed and checked.
  • The liquids setup meets your airport's requirements.
  • Your kit is easy to reach and repack.
